As I said would happen, the forum ranks have now been changed to reflect forum involvement and activity, rather than in-fleet rank (though this has had a bearing on some decisions).
The Star Trek Online style rank pips have now been removed replaced with custom made pips unique to the forum. I have a few notes about the change, if you don't mind reading on.
Administrators
You may have noticed that there are now two types of administrators, where before there was only one. These two different types are to reflect their roles within the website/forum. Obviously Website Administrators deal with both aspects of the job; they moderate the forums to keep discussions appropriate and to enforce the rules, but they also make changes to the website and add more content when it becomes available.
Forum administrators deal exclusively with the forum and serve to moderate the boards to keep it clean and appropriate. Note that they have no less authority just because they're more in number than web admins, and they should be respected accordingly.
Moderators
There are currently no moderators on this forum, due to its small population (which means that moderation duties can be handled quite easily by admins alone). However, as time goes by and the forum grows to larger ranks, some members may be promoted to the rank of moderator in order to keep order within the forum. More on this as the need for mods arises.
Promotions to Mod will rather be based on personality and helpfulness, rather that how often or how much you post, so take note. Also, note that requests to become a moderator will all be ignored and will likely disqualify you from future consideration.
Member
Although all standard members share the same rank pip, different members with different post counts may find that their title differs. Below is a list of all current titles, with the corresponding post count needed to obtain it. As time goes by, the list of available ranks may expand, and as more and more posts are made the post count boundaries may be raised.
0 posts - 'Junior Member'
15 posts - 'Member'
35 posts - 'Senior Member'
75 posts - 'Spammer-in-Training
200 posts - 'Spammer Supreme'
Please feel free to post any questions about the latest changes here and myself or another Admin will trying to answer them.
