Also known as the Galaxy-X or the Dreadnought Cruiser. Cryptic seems to be quite proud of it, judging from the way they talk about it. I had toyed with the idea of getting one for myself, but if I've never really been a huge fan of the Galaxy class.
I was just wondering if anyone else here has decided to get one, and if so, how does she fly?

I would like to get one but 2000 points is a big price to pay for a new ship. I suppose if I can scrounge up the points I would purchase it and give it a chance. I am a big fan of the Next Generation so getting that ship would be kick ass.

Well, I got the T5 Galaxy class Dreadnought. Suffice to say it does pack a punch, but is very slow and lumbering. The Spinal Phaser Lance does do a good job on enemies but does not destroy ships like you think it would. It is definitely worth the points if you already use a cruiser and don't have to adjust to it's fighting style, but if you run an escort you should probably stick with that.

Got to agree - the cloak effect is funky but high price for really a novelty item unless you are really into cruisers...

I've seen a lot of action from the dreadnought lately in PvP Federation war-games; the "phaser lance" seems to be quite effective at taking out a shield if the shot is good, but I haven't see anything spectacular from it. Cloak is an interesting feature, but having fought a few Klingon players in my time, it's nothing that can't be handled by a veteran player. I got your mail about it, by the way Hippo, don't want you to think I was ignoring you. I realised that I was late for something half-way through and had to rush out. Guess I forgot about it Having observed all of this, I don't think I'm going to buy it, even just to give it a go. I used to be able to fight moderately well with cruisers, but I've been using escorts for so long now that my playing style has totally changed. Not only that, but I'm pretty good in an escort too, so why mess with something that works? I'm sure it might be a nice novelty item, but it's just not for me. I am however curious as to whether we'll get other T5 ships from lower tiers. I wouldn't mind flying a T5 Akira class. I could probably still fly an Intrepid as well, I don't think I've lost my ability to fly a science ship yet.

I've a couple of the Gal X's flying around but I do'nt think its worth the credits. I'd prefer a Excelior Class Heavy Crusier option in the T3 slots. A T5 Akira would hopefully be the feddy carrier as alot of the reference stuff out there refers to it as through deck crusier/assaut carrier. Here's some of the specs out there. 2 sqns fighters & assorted assaut shuttles 8 torpedo tubes (that roll bar's got some serious whammo) 8 mark X phaser arrays. T5 intrepid with the armor from the final Voyager ep please
